About us

A loving home for early learning since 2003.

Kwazondi Day Care Centre is a registered non-profit ECD in Weltevreden Valley North, Mitchell's Plain. We care for 142 learners each day, from infancy through Grade R.

Our story

Founded in 2003 by Doris Sipondo, Kwazondi began with a handful of neighbourhood children and a simple belief: that every child deserves a safe place to learn, play and be loved. Twenty-three years later, we are proud to be a fully registered NPO (033-863) serving 142 learners with a qualified team of educators, cooks, caregivers and support staff.

We follow the South African ECD curriculum and enrich it with library visits, farm outings, cultural days and daily routines that build strong bodies, curious minds and kind hearts.

What we stand for

Safety first

Children need to be protected. Every routine, every outing, every meal is planned with their safety in mind.

Qualified educators

Our teachers hold NQF Level 1 through ECD Diploma qualifications and are supported to keep growing.

Whole-child growth

Emotional, physical, cognitive and cultural development — we care for the whole child.

Rooted in community

We are part of Mitchell's Plain. Our families, teachers and neighbours shape who we are.

Cultural pride

Heritage celebrations, isiXhosa songs, storytelling and traditions our children carry forward.

School readiness

Grade R that truly prepares — reading, writing, numbers, and the confidence to walk into big school.
